A not-so-classic take on the julep, the Original Recipe incorporates ginger-lime cordial and a spicy blend of clove, star anise, nutmeg and black pepper. A dash of fragrant spices is torched on top of the cocktail for a smoky finish.
2 oz Four Roses Single Barrel
2/3 oz Ginger-Lime Cordial
3 Large Sprigs of Mint
2 Pinches “Jezebel” spice (a ground spice blend of clove, star anise, nutmeg and black pepper)
After adding the ingredients, fill your julep cup halfway with crushed ice, swizzle, top with crushed ice and mound more on top. Smack the mint on your hand then add the straw and more ice. Sprinkle a dash of powdered sugar on top and throw jezebel spice through a flame to garnish.
*The Original Recipe was created by Proof bartender Dane Durand, and recently won the Four Roses Mint Julep competition.
